Online debate party game, 4–22 players
DEBAIT.
DEBAIT. is an online debate party game for 4 to 22 players. Teams argue over live voice while the audience votes, there's a "20 vs 1" mode, a player-DJ streams music into the lobby, and an AI fact-checker can freeze the room.
The challenge
A party game lives or dies on voice: up to 22 people talking, music playing underneath and votes landing in real time, without anyone hearing a stutter.
Key decisions
- 01
Custom voice and music streaming
A real-time voice and music pipeline over Steam P2P, using Opus with ring-buffer playback.
- 02
Server-authoritative flow and voting
Unity Netcode for GameObjects with Relay/Lobby, zone-based voting, and hand-drawn secret ballots sent as compressed stroke data.
- 03
Monetization on my own backend
Steam microtransactions, inventory and stats on a self-built Node.js + Firebase backend, plus a Next.js marketing site with in-browser demos.
